Getting There: Train
Get lost in the streets along the canals and find....
Candy Freaks, Nieuwe Hoogstraat 4A, 1011 HE Amsterdam, Netherlands
We stumbled into this candy shop on a side street and fell in love. The guy working in the store had the greatest energy and convinced us to buy everything. Perfect place to stock up for a quick sugar fix!
Bagels and Beans, Waterlooplein 2, 1011 PG Amsterdam, Netherlands
This was a breakfast spot we found not too from from our airbnb and close to a great outdoor market. A chain in Amsterdam this restaurant menu offers fresh bagels with many different toppings.
Betty Blue, Snoekjessteeg 1-3, 1011 HA Amsterdam, Netherlands
Betty Blue is an open concept restaurant/cafe/bakery in the busy city centre of Amsterdam. They serve breakfast, lunch, small healthy meals and freshly baked goods along with cakes, cheescake and red velvet.
La Margarita Mexican, Langebrugsteeg 6, 1012 GB Amsterdam, Netherlands
Back patio overlooking the canal with amazing Mexican food!
Friendship Boat Cruise
The party boats in this city made us pretty jealous - we wanted to experience it for ourselves. If you are single and ready to mingle I would highly suggest waiting on the canals for a party boat to come down and pick you right up for the party. Sitting on the canals I saw this happen 3 times in less than an hour. If you’re not single and still want a party I would suggest the friendship cruise. Very minimal typical tour guide nonsense and more drinking. 2 drinks are included on the cruise and it takes you all around Amsterdam for an hour!

Parks - Vondelpark is the most beautiful park we went to. It seems the city flocks to this park to relax, drink, eat, tan, read, play, hangout. Great vibes - a must visit for any visitors!
Hanneks Boom, Dijksgracht 4, 1019 BS Amsterdam, Netherlands
This very cool waterfront cafe was recommended to us by our new friend from the Candy Freaks shop. The shack style of this local hangout spot on the water makes you feel like you’re going to hang out at a your coolest friends house. Full of salvaged & recycled furniture, great drinks and fun people this is a must do for anyone visiting Amsterdam.
Winkel 43, Noordermarkt 43, 1015 NA Amsterdam, Netherlands
Recommended by our airbnb host this charming restaurant away from the tourists is great for dinner but even better for a slice of apple pie after dinner. Although the apple pie is not on the menu it’s a local secret that apple pie is baked fresh every day and is always available. Topped with whipped cream this apple pie made a great dessert.
